70 percent votes cast in Jangipur bypoll

In West Bengal over 70 percent polling was recorded in Jangipur Parliamentary Bye-election on Wednesday.The State Chief Electoral Officer Mr. Sunil Gupta told AIR that voting was peaceful .AIR Kolkata Correspondent reports that boycott of votes were reported from 26 polling booths to protest on certain local issues.The Bye-election was necessitated after Mr. Pranab Mukherjee got elected as President of India. The counting of votes will be taken up on next Saturday.
