In Uttar Pradesh, 7 people, mostly children have succumbed to deadly encephalitis – commonly known as brain fever during last 24 hours in Baba Raghav Das Medical College hospital in Gorakhpur. The disease has claimed 319 lives in Gorakhpur and Basti divisions this year. AIR Gorakhpur correspondent reports that 297 patients of brain fever are undergoing treatment in different hospitals of the eastern region. 39 fresh patients of suspected encephalitis have been admitted to the BRD Medical College Hospital during the period. Of seven dead, three belonged to Kushinagar, one each from Gorakhpur and Mahrajganj and two hailed from the neighbouring state Bihar.
