Urban Development Minister M Venkaiah Naidu has said that seven more colonies in the national capital will be re-developed through NBCC and CPWD to address scarcity of housing facility for central government employees. <br/><br/>Addressing the gathering after inaugurating three components of modern social infrastructure under East Kidwai Nagar General Pool Residential Accommodation Redevelopment Project, <br/><br/>Mr Naidu said, the Cabinet has approved seven General Pool Residential Accommodation colonies in Sarojini Nagar, Netaji Nagar, Nauroji Nagar, Kasturba Nagar, Thyagraj Nagar, Srinivaspuri and Mohammadpur for the purpose. He said, redevelopment of properties is the way for optimal utilization of scarce land resources in cities and for generating resources required. He said, zero waste generation and zero discharge shall be the guiding principle for smart city development. <br/><br/>Mr Naidu said, redevelopment of government colonies in a big way in Delhi reflects central government's approach to improving quality of life and recasting urban landscape.<br/><br/>Stressing on the importance of smart concepts, Minister of State for Home Kiren Rijiju said that old perception needs to be changed. He said, NDMC area is the nerve centre of governance and shows the way to others.<br/><br/>The inaugurated project include a re-developed local shopping complex, a banquet Hall and a Senior Secondary School, besides others. The entire infrastructure runs on green technology. Under the project 4608 modern dwelling units will be made.
