7 lakh additional fresh Pre-Metric scholarships for minority communities’ students have been announced for the current fiscal. The target has been revised to 34 lakh. According to an official release, government has allocated 225 crore rupees more for the purpose taking the total amount to 600 crores .

The scholarships have been distributed community wise. Muslims will get about 24 lakh, 80 thousand fresh scholarships while for Christians, the number would be about four lakh, thirty one thousand. Three lakh, 44 thousand fresh scholarships will be given to Sikhs and one lakh 42 thousand to Buddhists. Parses will get one thousand, 176 scholarships.
