In Meghalaya, at least seven people, including a school girl, were killed in police firing on Friday. Sources say Assam the police opened fired in Langphi over the disputed area between Assam and Meghalaya as a result of which seven members belonging to Khasi community killed. <br/>Meghalaya Chief Minister Mukul Sangma said a high-level team consisting additional district magistrate has been sent to the spot to assess the situation. <br/>However, he declined to confirm the casualty in the firing incident saying that he has no official word yet on the incident. State Chief Secretary WMS Pariat told AIR that the situation in Langphi is under control now.<br/>
