Seven Iraqi soldiers have been ambushed and shot dead in the northern Iraqi city of Mosul. The soldiers had just finished their shift and were travelling together in a vehicle when it was attacked by armed men. Attacks by militants are common in Mosul and other parts of Iraq although their number has fallen sharply in recent years.
