In China, fresh rains have triggered floods and landslides in several parts of southern China, killing at least seven persons and forcing over 55,000 people to evacuate their homes. Over the last two days, several parts of south China including Hubei, Hunan, Jiangxi, Guizhou, Anhui and Zhejiang province are witnessing heavy rain. Three people have been killed by lightning in Guizhou, while four others are reported to be killed in the northern Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region due to heavy downpours and hailstorms. According to local authorities, more than 53,000 people have been evacuated in the Hubei City of Xianning, as downpours had raised the level of a local river by five meters. Meteorological forecasts suggest heavy rain will continue till Friday.Floods and landslides triggered by the largest rainstorm in 300 years have over the past 10 days left at least 105 people dead.
