7.78 lakh children administered polio drops in Haryana

In Haryana, about 7.78 lakh children under five years of age were administered polio drops during the first day of the 3-day Sub-National Immunization Round of Pulse Polio 2010-11 which was undertaken on Monday in four districts namely Gurgaon, Faridabad, Mewat and Palwal. While stating this at Chandigarh, Haryana Health Minister Rao Narender Singh said that during this round, special attention is being paid to high risk areas like slums, isolated hutments, brick kilns, floating or migrating population and construction sites so that no child was left uncovered in these areas. He said that the special attention is being given to the children in nine other districts of the State, that is Ambala, Jhajjar, Karnal, Kurukshetra, Panchkula, Panipat, Rohtak, Sonipat and Yamunanagar. He said that about 1000 officers and officials supervised the activity apart from Independent monitors of PGIMS, Rohtak and WHO. About 14.40 lakh children would be covered during this campaign in the state.
