7/11 Mumbai train blast: Court hears argument on quantum of punishment

The argument for quantum of punishment for the 12 accused in the 7/11 Mumbai Train Bomb blasts case continued today at MCOCA court in Mumbai. The Court today allowed defence's application to examine witnesses to bring on record, evidence of mitigating circumstances. <br/><br/>The court started hearing the arguments yesterday and the process will continue tomorrow. Senior defence lawyer Yug Choudhari had yesterday put three applications for six convicts for lesser punishment on medical grounds, probation officer's report and evidence on mitigating circumstances. <br/><br/>The Special court has convicted twelve accused for their involvement in the 2006 serial blasts in Mumbai local trains that killed 188 persons and over 800 injured. The thirteenth accused Abdul Wahid Din Mohammed Shaikh was acquitted. Azam Cheema, the alleged mastermind of the blasts is still absconding.
