6th Phase LS polls: 117 constituencies across 11 States, 1 UT go to polls tomorrow

In yet another substantial round of polling in the Lok Sabha elections, 117 constituencies will go to polls tomorrow. Over 18 crore voters in 11 states and union territory of Puducherry will be able to vote in the sixth of the nine- phased elections.

The constituencies going to polls in this phase include all the 39 in Tamil Nadu, 19 in Maharashtra, 12 in Uttar Pradesh, 10 in Madhya Pradesh, seven each in Bihar and Chhattisgarh, six each in West Bengal and Assam, five in Rajasthan, four in Jharkhand and one each in Jammu and Kashmir and Puducherry.

Prominent candidates whose fate will be sealed tomorrow include Union Minister V Narayana Swamy from Puducherry, Union Ministers Jitendra Singh and Namonarayan Meena and Cricketer Mohd Azharuddin of Congress from Rajasthan, leader of opposition in Lok Sabha, Sushma Swaraj from Vidisha in Madhya Pradesh, Mulayam Singh Yadav, Salman Khurshid, Hema Malini and Amar Singh from UP, Union Minister of State for Urban Development, Deepa Dasmunshi, Union Minister of State for Health, Abu Hasem Khan Choudhury, President Pranab Mukherjee’s son and Congress nominee Abhijit Mukherjee, besides others.
