The five days 6th National Science Film Festival & Competition (NSFF) began on Tuesday at Nehru Science Centre in Mumbai.<br/><br/>Gracing the inaugural function, Dr. Mike Pandey, India's Iconic Wildlife Conservationist and Environmentalist / Filmmaker, said that films are the medium of thoughts and discussions and this festival will help create public awareness and promote scientific temper in the country through science films.<br/><br/>Also gracing the occasion, Shri Shyam Benegal, Eminent Film Maker said that science film is a good idea which will help the country to move forward.<br/><br/>It may also prove helpful for the interior parts of the country to progress. The National Jury and other guests were also present on the occasion.<br/><br/>Nehru Science Centre will be screening as many as 45 films selected by the jury out of the 144 science films to the visitors from 9th to 13th this week.<br/><br/>Professional and student film makers across the country will participate in the festival. <br/><br/>A workshop on science film making will be organized during the NSFF-2016, where renowned science film makers will share their experience in addition to the various academic sessions for upcoming science film makers and students.<br/><br/>The science films in different categories selected by the National Jury will be awarded attractive prizes, certificates and trophies during the valediction programme to be held on 13th.<br/><br/>The festival has been jointly organised by Nehru Science Centre and Vigyan Prasar, an autonomous body under the Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India.
