The 69th National Conference of Association of Surgeons of India (ASICON 2009) begins in Coimbatore in Tamil Nadu today. Over 4500 surgeons from India and abroad are participating in this five day conference which will conclude on 30th of this month. The conference begins with a National tele-live surgery workshop. Coimbatore Medical College, GEM hospital and GKNM hospital in the city are conducting this workshop. Over 45 different types of modern basic and advanced surgeries will be demonstrated by top surgeons in this conference. Shri.Gulam Nabi Azad, Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare will inaugurate the National continuing Surgical Educational programme by tomorrow morning. Shri.V.M.Katoch, Director General of Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), New Delhi will deliver the keynote address. Shri.S.Gandhiselvan, Union Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare and State government Ministers Shri.MRK Paneerselvam and Shri.Pongalur N Palanisamy will also attend the conference. Over 20 top International and 60 National faculties will deliver guest lectures in the conference and over 150 Surgical and Medical companies will participate in the Medical Expo.<br/>
