Government has transferred two thousand crore rupees directly to LPG customers accounts in 184 districts so far under the Direct Benefit Transfer for LPG (DBTL) scheme.According to an official release, 66 million consumers are getting benefits of the scheme in these districts through Aadhaar seeded bank accounts. The scheme aims at curbing pilferage prevent black-marketing of LPG.The Petroleum and Natural Gas Ministry has started various initiatives to expand the reach of DBTL scheme to all LPG consumers. The Ministry and Oil Marketing Companies have also undertaken multipronged efforts to encourage consumers to link their Aadhaar numbers with their LPG consumer numbers as well as with bank accounts to get the benefit .
