Telangana Governor E S L Narasimhan has declared open the 65th All India Police Athletics Championship at the GMC Balayogi stadium in Hyderabad Saturday evening. <br/><br/>Over thousand sports persons including 300 women from various state police departments and paramilitary force are taking part in the annual event being organised by the Central Industrial Security Force — CISF. <br/><br/>Speaking on the occasion, the Governor said a Police Sports Training academy is a dire necessity in the country to provide sports training on a regular basis to the police forces. <br/><br/>Stating that the police personnel have lot of talent especially in sports, Mr Narasimhan exuded confidence that many sports persons from the police forces will reach Olympics in future. <br/><br/>Appreciating the role being played by police in curbing anti national elements, he said such sports events are real symbols of national integration. <br/><br/>Earlier, in his welcoming address, CISF additional Director Genetal Dharmendra Kumar said the after many years, sports occupied importance in training police personnel.<br/><br/>Telangana Sports minister Padma RAO, state Chief secretary Rajiv sharma are among a host of dignitaries who were present. <br/><br/>The championship will continue till 7 th of this month.
