<span style="color: #222222;">The Government has informed that 654 Indian fishermen are in Pakistan's custody. In a written reply to a question in Rajya Sabha on Thursday, Minister of State for External Affairs V. Muraleedharan said that Pakistan has acknowledged the custody of these fishermen. Of these 654 detained Indian fishermen are- 547 from Gujarat, 46 from Daman and Diu and 30 from Maharashtra. He added that 871 Indian fishermen have been arrested during the last five years from 2018-22, and 610 have been released from the jails during the same time. He stressed the Government acts swiftly as soon as the cases of apprehension of Indian fishermen by Pakistan are reported. Mr. Muraleedharan said that as a result of sustained efforts by the Government, 2161 Indian fishermen have been repatriated from Pakistan since 2014.</span><br />
