65 new road projects costing Rs 173 crores approved in J&K under PMGSY Scheme

In Jammu and Kashmir, as many as 65 new road projects involving a cost of Rs. 173 crore are being taken up in the border district of Rajouri under seventh phase of Prime Minister Gram Sadak Yojana, besides, Rs. 30 crore being incurred upon the upgradation of power transmission and distribution network under Rajiv Gandhi Gramin Vidhutikaran Yojana in the district.<br/><br/>Speaking to various deputations from Rajouri at Jammu today, the Minister of State for Power, and Consumer Affairs and Public distribution, Mr. Shabir Ahmed Khan said that the proposed road projects have come in addition to the implementation of state funded programme under the State Roads and Bridges department.<br/><br/>Asserting that fulfilling the peoples’ aspiration and all round development is the prime objective of the state government, the minister said that a series of new initiatives have been taken up by the government to develop the socio-economic profile of hilly and backward areas of the State by providing basic facilities at their doorsteps.
