64th National Film Awards: Akshay Kumar wins best actor for Rustom, best Hindi film is Neerja

The 64th National Film Awards have been announced and Marathi Movie Kaasav directed by Sumitra Bhave and Sunil Sukthankar has bagged the Best Feature Film Award. <br/><br/>Akshay Kumar has been chosen for the Best Actor Award for Hindi Movie Rustom. Surabhi C M has been named as the best actress for her role in Malayalam film Minnaminungu-The Firefly. Sonam Kapoor starrer Neerja bagged the best Hindi film award. Sonam will receive a special mention for her critically-lauded performance. <br/><br/>Announcing the awards, Chairman of the jury and noted film Director Priyadarshan said, Hindi movie Dhanak directed by Nagesh Kukunoor will get the best children film award. He said, Telugu movie Sathamanam Bhavathi has been chosen as the Best popular film providing wholesome entertainment. <br/><br/>He said, Best Film on social issue has been awarded to Hindi movie Pink. Mr Priyadarshan said, over 300 films were vied for the honours this year. The award for Best Supporting Actress will be conferred on Zaira Wasim for her role in Hindi movie Dangal. Manoj Joshi will get Best supporting actor award for Marathi movie Dashkriya. <br/><br/>Best Music Direction has been bagged by Bapu Padmanabha for Kannada movie Allama. Joker has been chosen as the Best Tamil movie, Wrong Side Raju has been chosen as best Gujarati movie, Peli Chuplu has been chosen as best Telugu film and Amaj Rati Keteki bagged the best Assamese movie award and Bisorjon is selected for Best Bengali Film.

64th National Film Awards: Akshay Kumar wins best actor for Rustom, best Hindi film is Neerja

"Neerja" has won the Best Hindi Feature Film in 64th National Awards which were announced today at the National Media Centre in New Delhi. Akshay Kumar was adjudged the best actor for Rustom while Sonam Kapoor, Neerja's lead actor, also got a special mention by the jury along with Adil Hussain for Mukti Bhawan, and Kadvi Hawa. Amitabh Bachchan-starrer, film Pink has been named the best film in the category of on-social issues. <br/><br/>Nagesh Kukunoor's Dhanak grabbed the Best Children Film while The Eyes Of Darkness received a Special Mention.<br/><br/>Rajesh Mapuska was named the best director for his Marathi film Ventilator while the Marathi film Kaasav was named the best best feature film. <br/><br/>Filmmaker Priyadarshan was the chairperson of the jury in feature films category, while nationally acclaimed cinematographer and a writer Raju Misra was the chairperson in non-feature category. The jury considered 344 films from 26 languages for the feature films category of awards.
