The 64th Independence Day was celebrated in Indian Embassy at Kabul with flag hoisting by Ambassador Mr. Gautam Mukhopadhaya and playing of national anthem. President’s message was read out on the occasion. Dozens of Indian officials from the embassy and other walks of life had gathered to mark the celebrations. Mr. Gautam Mukhopadhaya in his remarks remembered the contributions of all Indian nationals working in Afghanistan towards building strong ties between the two countries. Similar functions were organized at the four Indian consulates located at Kandahar, Jalalabad, Mazar-e-Sharif and Herat.
