63 pc voting in Bihar Panchayat polls

In Bihar an estimated 63per cent voters on Wednesday exercised their franchise in the tenth and the final phase of panchayat polls in the state. Election was held on Wednesday at 504 panchayats in 30 blocks of the state. AIR Patna correspondent no untoward incident was reported from any part of the state during polls.The state Election Commissioner J K Dutta told that Purnea district recorded the highest voter turnout at 73 percent, while Nawada district witnessed the lowest turn out at 52 per cent. 358 persons had been arrested as precautionary measures. Over eighty thousand rupees were seized from the possession of arrested persons.
