63 devotees killed in UP stampede

In Uttar Pradesh about 63 devotees of a Godman Kripalu Maharaj killed and today in Partapgarh district in an stampede. The superintendent of police, Pratapgarh told media persons that the dead include 37 children and 26 women. Pratapgarh is 180 Km away from state capital Lucknow.<br/><br/>The Additional Director General police Law and Order of the state Mr. Brijlal told our Lucknow correspondent that the under construction main gate collapsed and stampede followed. He said that several are still buried under debris of main gate and authorities are trying to get them out. He said that nearly 50 injured devotees have been rushed to medical college hospital Allahabad and district hospital Pratapgarh and community health centre Kunda. He said that death toll may increase as rescue works are going on and some devotees have received serious injuries.<br/><br/>According to Police, Godman of the Asram Swami Kripalu Maharaj had organized a collective feast for his disciples on the occasion of death anniversary of his wife and there was big rush on this occasion. Senior civil and police officers have reached on the spot for rescue and relief works.<br/>
