620 million tourists visit different places across the country every year. This includes five million foreign tourists. Addressing a function in New Delhi today, the Tourism Ministers, Kumari Shelja said that a number of skill development programmes are being launched to meet the growing demand of skilled manpower in the tourism sector. She urged the Human Resource Development Minister to initiate a proposal to incorporate tourism and hospitality as a subject in the school curriculum. The Tourism Minister said that all out efforts are being made to attract large number of foreign tourists. She also urged the State Governments to take a lead and train the manpower in this vital sector of economy.
