62% turn out in 6th phase of Bihar Panchayat elections

In Bihar, an estimated 62 percent voters today exercised their right to franchise during the 6th phase of Panchayat elections in the state. Election was today held at 906 gram panchayats in 58 blocks of the state.AIR Patna correspondent reports that no major incident of violence was reported from any parts of the state except a few skirmishes between rival groups in Araria Siwan, Darbhanga, Nalanda and Siwan districts . In Aurangabad bogus voting attempt was foiled after police resorted to firing .No one was injured in this incident.Over one thousand persons including a ptrolling magistrate have been arrested as a preventive measures during poll .About 84 thousand rupees were recovered from the possession of arrested persons.The Panchayat elections will conclude on May 18 after the remaining four more phases. The seventh phase of elections will be held on the 9th of this month.
