61 pc voting reported in third phase of Bihar panchayat polls

An estimated 61 per cent voters on Wednesday exercised their franchise in the third phase of panchayat polls in Bihar. AIR Patna correspondent reports that no major incident was reported from any part of the state. The State Election Commissioner J K Dutta informed that Kishanganj district recorded the highest voter turnout at 74 percent, while Sheikhpura district witnessed the lowest turnout at 51 per cent. 818 persons were arrested as a precautionary measure. Over two lakh sixty thousand rupees were seized from the possession of the arrested persons. The Panchayat elections will conclude on 18th pf May after seven more phases. The fourth phase of elections will be held on the 30th of this month.
