60-hour Dima Hasao Hills dist bandh in Assam evoke mixed response

In Assam, the 60-hour Dima Hasao Hills district bandh call given by the North Cachar Hills Indigenous Students’ Forum has evoked mixed response. The bandh is total in the district headquarters Haflong with shops, educational institutions and government offices remaining closed and public transport off the roads.

The bandh however, failed to evoke any response in Maibong and other Dimasa community dominated areas of the district. The movements of trains in the Badarpur-Lumding Hill Section of the Northeast Frontier Rail is operating normally.

AIR Silchar correspondent L T K Singh reports no untoward incident has been reported so far. Security across the district has also been beefed up to prevent any trouble.
