In Assam, six persons, including a woman and a child, died when two speeding passenger buses collided head-on at Haijan bridge in North Lakhimpur town this morning. Five of them died on-the-spot while the other succumbed to his injuries on way to hospital. Four of the deceased include workers of the ill-fated buses. 33 seriously wounded have been admitted to the Civil Hospitals at North Lakhimpur.Two of them later shifted to R.K. Mission Hospital at Itanagar for better treatment. One of the buses was on its way to Lakhimpur from Barpeta while the other was on its way to Itanagar from Aalong in Arunachal Pradesh when the accident took place.
