6 killed as vehicle falls into deep gorge in Uttarakhand

In Uttarakhand, twelve people were killed in two separate incidents in Tehri district during the last 24 hours. Six persons were killed in a road accident when a vehicle in which they were travelling fell into a deep gorge in Bangargaon of Dhanolti sub division on Monday. Nine other injured have been hospitalised. In another incident, six persons were buried alive under the roofs of their houses that caved in due to land slides at Daur village in Narendra Nagar area last evening.Normal life in hilly areas of the state has been affected due to landslides following the rains. As per reports more than hundred villages have been cut off from their respective headquarters due to damage of link roads. Besides this, dozen of houses were damaged and people are forced to shift to safer places.Vehicular traffic on Rishikesh-Gangotri national highway and Almora-Nainital national highway has been disrupted due to landslides. Met department predicts light to moderate rain may occur at few places in the state in coming 24 hours.
