In Egypt, 6 people have been killed and 639 injured in the violent clashes between pro and anti Mubarak demonstrators. Vice President Omar Suleiman has insisted there could be no dialogue with the opposition until all the protesters go home. Referring to calls from foreign countries, the Egyptian foreign ministry said such calls sought to inflame the internal situation of Egypt. Earlier Army urged the youth to return home, saying it is time to go back to normal life after the announcement of Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak that he will not stand for re-election in September and promised to initiate political reforms. Opposition has rejected his announcement and asked him to step down. Meanwhile, US Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton has expressed the shock over violence in Egypt after many days of consistently peaceful demonstrations. In a telephonic conversation with Egyptian Vice President Omar Soliman she expressed the hope that both the government and the opposition would seize the opportunity and start immediately serious and meaningful negotiations about Egypt's transition to a more open, pluralistic, and democratic government.
