In Haryana, the six government procuring agencies have purchased 65540 metric tonnes of paddy on Saturday, the first day of Kharif procurement season-2011-12 out of a total of 69836 metric tonnes of paddy arrived in the various mandis. Stating this at Chandigarh on Sunday, Haryana Food and Supplies Minister Mr Mahender Partap Singh said that the Food and Supplies Department has purchased 30820 metric tonnes of paddy, whereas 13755 metric tonnes of paddy has been purchased by HAFED. He said that as much as 31703 metric tonnes of paddy arrived in the mandis of district Kurukshetra, 15783 metric tonnes of paddy in district Karnal, 10306 metric tonnes in district Ambala, 6510 metric tonnes in district Kaithal and 5534 metric tonnes of paddy in district Yamunanagar.
