In Assam, six hardcore militants belonging to two underground outfits today laid down arms before the Assam Rifles authorities at Lekhapani in Tinsukia district. The militants included five from Arunachal Naga Liberation Front (ANLF) and another from NSCN (Khaplang). They were involving in extremist activities in Changlang district of neighbouring Arunachal Pradesh since long. The ultras handed over a rifle, two revolvers and 30 rounds of ammunition before the General Officer Commanding (GOC) of Dao Division- Brigadier Paritosh Pant. Welcoming the militants, the GOC appealed to other members of the militant groups to join the national mainstream and take opportunity of joining Army, paramilitary and police forces for their better future.
