In Uttar Pradesh, six girls drowned in river Rapti in Balrampur district while bathing. They were aged between eight and twelve years. This incident happened in the river near village Kulhia under Gaura Chauraha police station area. The Police and administrative officials rushed to the village and with the help of villagers fished out the bodies from the river.<br/>In Maharajganj district, two persons including a local scribe were killed in car-truck collision. The journalist has been identified as Pradip Srivasatav, working with a local Hindi daily and his relative were killed on the spot after being hit by a truck near Bhaiya Pharenda village. They were on their way to Gorakhpur from their native village.<br/>
