6 dead in Kabul hotel attack, over 150 hostages released

In Afghanistan, gunmen killed at least six people, including a foreigner in an attack on Kabul's Intercontinental Hotel last night. The attackers were engaged in a 12 hour fight with security forces before being killed. Interior ministry spokesman Najib Danish said that the attack is over now. <br/><br/>He said four gunmen had stormed into the hotel opening fire and taking dozens of people hostage. Another official said around 150 people were rescued, including more than 40 foreigners.<br/>There is no immediate claim of responsibility for the assault. The latest attack follows a series of security warnings in recent days to avoid hotels and other locations frequented by foreigners.
