In Afghanistan, at least twenty people were killed and more than 20 others injured when a suicide bomber detonated his explosives near an army recruitment centre in the west of capital Kabul today morning. Abdul Ghafor Sayedzada, chief of criminal investigation for the Kabul police, said that initial reports of the blast indicate that U.S. vehicles were targeted. NATO-led alliance did not provide any immediate details. An Afghan army officer at the blast scene said 20 people died, eight out of them were foreigners. An eyewitness at the scene said four construction workers were among those killed. He said one military vehicle and nine other vehicles were completely destroyed. Taliban claimed responsibility for the attack saying US military convoy was the target. <br/> Taliban-led groups have often carried out suicide attacks in capital Kabul. Today’s attack is the first major one after a similar attack on February 26 which killed 17 people including 7 Indian nationals.<br/><br/>Meanwhile,Taliban has claimed responsibility for today’s attack saying foreign military convoy was the target. The militant groups had threatened to launch a series of attacks since last week in wake of Afghan President’s US visit but were not successful so far. Afghan police were able to nullify few such attacks in the past by arresting few militants including foreigners.
