A six day conference of Border Security Force and Border Guards Bangladesh has begun in Dhaka on sunday to discuss ways to strengthen co-operation in border security and management. A twenty one member BSF Delegation led by Director General Raman Srivastava arrived in Dhaka Sunday afternoon to hold talks with the Border Guard Bangladesh delegation which will be led by its Director General Major General Anwar Hussain. While informal discussions are being held on Sunday, the formal delegation level talks will begin on Monday morning at the BGB headquarters. Apart from focusing on various border management issues, the BSF delegation is likely to raise issues related to the presence of Indian Insurgent Groups, deportation of leaders and members of Indian Insurgent Groups and handing over of Indian criminals during the talks with BGB. In addition to this the talks will also focus on joint efforts by the BSF and BGB to prevent smuggling of Fake Indian Counterfeit Notes, Illegal Migration and trafficking of Women and Children.AIR correspondent reports, the present round of the Director General level conference between the Border Security force and Border Guards Bangladesh is the 34th Director General level meeting between the two forces and is part of the bi-annual conferences held alternately in New Delhi and Dhaka every year. The current conference is also the first meeting being held after the two sides signed a coordinated border management plan in July this year. The meeting will review the progress made on the implementation of the plan which aims to tackle border crimes related to insurgency, terrorism and militancy especially along certain vulnerable areas along the 4096 kilometre border shared by the two countries. Apart from this it is also expected that the two forces will finalise the modalities to hold a retreat ceremony at some border posts on the India Bangladesh border similar to the ceremony at Wagah along the India Pakistan border.
