Union Jal Shakti Minister, Gajendra Singh Shekhawat on Thursday informed the Lok Sabha that so far, six crore new drinking water connections have been given in the country.<br />''<br />''Replying to supplementaries in the House, Mr. Shekhawat urged the state governments to take approval of the Member of Parliaments for the District Village Water Plan. He said, the approval from the MPs can be taken in a span of 15 days.<br />''<br />''Mr Shekhawat expressed disappointment on the state governments going slow on implementing the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) projects. He also urged the state governments to invite Member of Parliaments while laying the foundation stones and for inauguration programmes of Jal Jeevan Mission.<br />''<br />''Minister of state for Jal Shakti, Pralhad Singh Patel said to check the tap water quality at panchayat level around five women from the village will be trained to carry out the tests.<br />''<br />''<span style="color: #222222;">The minister informed the House that for ensuring tap water supply in drought-prone and water scarce areas with inadequate rainfall or dependable ground water sources including those in Maharashtra, Gujarat, Bihar and Rajasthan provisions have been made under JJM for planning and implementation of bulk&nbsp; water transfer from long distances and regional water supply schemes.</span><br />
