6 civilians killed, 8 injured as rockets fired by Huthi rebels

In Yemen, six civilians were killed and eight wounded today when two rockets allegedly fired by Huthi rebels hit a popular market in the southwestern city of Taez.<br/><br/>Military sources said in Aden today that three children were among those killed in the explosions outside a post office. Taez, the country's third city, is almost completely surrounded by the Iran-backed Shiite rebels and their allies, backers of former president Ali Abdullah Saleh.<br/><br/>For months, forces loyal to the internationally recognised<br/>government of President Abedrabbo Mansour Hadi have been trying to break the rebel grip on Taez.Civilians are bearing the brunt of the conflict between the rebels, who control much of the north including the capital Sanaa, and loyalist forces.<br/><br/>According to the United Nations, the conflict in Yemen has killed more than 6,700 people and displaced at least three million since a Saudi-led Arab coalition backing Hadi's government launched operations in March 2015.
