An earthquake measuring 6.9 struck an ocean area, north of the Philippines this morning. According to the US Geological survey, the quake occurred at 10:59 hours ( local time) and its epicenter was located about 300 kilometres off the Batan Islands. There are no reports of casualties and damages so far. The Philippines authorities have warned people living near the coast of a possible sudden rise in tides.
