6.6 magnitude quake hits off Solomon Islands

A strong earthquake measuring 6.6 on the Richter scale today struck the Solomon Islands. The US Geological Survey said the quake struck about 133 kilometers south-east of the Pacific nation's capital, Honiara, at a depth of 30 kilometers. There are no immediate reports of any damage or casualties. No Tsunami warning has been issued.
