A strong 6.9 magnitude earthquake hit western Guatemala early today, killing at least two people and causing power outages, as well as damage to some buildings. The quake hit the area at 1:29 am. The Institute of Seismology said, the epicenter of the quake was about 156 kilometers west of Guatemala City in the department of San Marcos. As per the report, the tremor was felt across most of the country, including the capital, as well as in neighboring Mexico.<br/><br/>Guatemala is in a risk zone for tremors, located where the Caribbean Cocos tectonic plates converge with North America's tectonic plates. <br/>
