A strong 6.4-magnitude earthquake struck the Pacific nation of Vanuatu today. According to the US Geological Survey, the quake hit at 5 p.m. ( local time) at a depth of about 35 kilometers with an epicentre 222 kilometres northwest of the port city Luganville. The Pacific Tsunami Warning Centre said there was no threat of a destructive widespread tsunami based on historical earthquake and tsunami data. Also, there were no immediate reports of damages or casualty.
