6.2-magnitude earthquake in Indonesia

A strong 6.2-magnitude earthquake struck off Indonesia's Sulawesi Island on Monday night. The US Geological Survey said the undersea quake struck at a relatively shallow depth of 13 kilometres around 211 kilometeres east of Manado at 10:31 pm (local time). However there were no immediate reports of damage and no tsunami warning was issued. A moderate quake measuring 5.5 on Richter scale struck off Sumatra island of Indonesia this morning. The country's Meteorology and Geophysics Agency said the quake jolted at 07: 08 a.m. Jakarta time with epicenter 30 kilometres southeast of Tarutung of North Sumatra and with a depth 10 kilometeres. There have so far been no reports of casualties or property damage.
