5th Test between England & Australia at the Oval ends in a draw

England and Australia drew the fifth Ashes cricket Test at The Oval yesterday, as the hosts wrapped up a 3-0 series win. Chasing 227 for victory, England finished the final day at the score of 206 for 5. England needed just 21 more runs to win off 24 balls, when the umpires took the players off the field for bad light at 7:35 pm local time. As play had gone beyond the scheduled close, a restart was impossible and England finished on 206 for five off 40 overs with Chris Woakes 17 not out.Earlier in the day, Australia had declared their second innings at 111 for 6. In the first innings, replying to Australia's score of 492 for 9 declared, England were bundled out for 377.Australia's Shane Watson, who made 176 in the first innings, was adjudged man of the match. The man of the series award was jointly given by Ian Bell of England and Aussie Ryan Harris.This draw meant Australia had failed to win a single Test in an Ashes series for the first time, since a 3-0 loss in England in 1977 and left them winless in their last nine Tests against all opponents.England had won the opening test by 14 runs, followed by a brilliant 347-run victory in the second, and a 74-run triumph in the fourth. The third test ended in a draw.England and Australia will play the first Twenty-20 of the2-match series at Southampton on Thursday.Both sides are also scheduled to play 5 one day international matches, beginning 5th of next month at Leeds.
