5th phase LS polls: Voting underway for 121 seats across 12 states; polling also on in 77 Odisha assembly segments

Polling is underway for the fifth phase of Lok Sabha elections in 121 seats spread over 12 States.

These are all 28 seats in Karnataka, 20 in Rajasthan, 19 in Maharashtra, 11 each in Uttar Pradesh and Odisha, 10 in Madhya Pradesh, 7 in Bihar, 6 in Jharkhand, 4 in West Bengal, 3 in Chhattisgarh, and one each in Jammu and Kashmir and Manipur. The polling, which started at 7 AM, will end at 6 PM except in some naxal affected areas where it will end at 4 PM.

In Rajastan, people lined up before the polling centres in large numbers and over 14 percent votes were polled in the first two hours. Ganganagar constuency witnessed the highest poll percentage of 20.56 percent.

In Uttar Pradesh where polling is taking place in 11 Lok Sabha constituencies, 11.71 percent voting was recorded in the first two hours. Maximum 14.32 percent polling was reported from Nagina constituency.

In Jharkhand, Maoists blew up a stretch of railway track in Bokaro district, disrupting train services. The rebels damaged the tracks between Dania railway station in Bokaro and Jageshwar station of Bihar under South Eastern Railway.

Passenger trains were held up at different places.

Bokaro is under Giridih Lok Sabha constituency where polling is on.

Voting is also taking place today for 77 Assembly segments in Odisha.
