England will resume its second innings' play today from the overnight score of 340 for five against India on the fifth and the final day of the first Cricket test match at Ahmedabad. Skipper Alastair Cook on 168 and Matt Prior on 84 were at the crease when stumps were drawn last evening. At the end of fourth day's play yesterday, England managed to wipe out their first innings deficit of 330 runs and were ahead by 10 runs. The sixth-wicket partnership between captain Alastair Cook and Matt Prior has so far yielded 141 runs. The scores so far: India – 521 for 8 declared.England – 191 all out and 340 for 5.India will look to claim the remaining five wickets as quickly as possible today and push for a 1-0 lead in the four-match series. While, England, on the other hand, will try to bat as much as possible and may even put pressure on India by taking a substantial lead on a tricky fifth day track.
