56th National School games Under 19 Football Championship for Boys and Girls commenced in Maulana Azad Stadium Jammu on Monday. About 600 participants drawn from 30 States, Union Territories are participating in the Championship. AIR Correspondence reports, the Boys Competitions will be held from Monday upto 25th September followed by Girls from September 27 to October 1. Six venues have been selected for conducting the matches. According to J&K Minister for Youth Services and Sports, R.S. Chib the conduct of nationals under the aegis of School Games Federation of India by the Department of Youth Services and Sports will provide an ideal opportunity for the budding sportspersons of the State to compete with the best in the country. The Minister reiterated that State Government is committed to develop sports infrastructure in every nook and corner of the State. Meanwhile, adequate security arrangements have been made by the district administration around the venue of the Games.
