In Uttar Pradesh, 56 people have tested positive so far with the deadly swine flu or H1N1 in the capital Lucknow. State health officials confirmed the figure, saying efforts are being made to check its further spread.The rise in the cases of swine flu has sent alarm bells ringing in the state health department, as the number of cases has dramatically increased in a fortnight. Many more patients with symptoms of H1N1 infection are being treated in private hospitals whose blood samples have been sent to SGPGI. The first case of swine flu came to light in Lucknow on Aug 22 when a retired doctor fell prey to the H1N1 virus and died later.Chief medical officer, CMO, Lucknow, Mr. S.N. Yadav, has said that hospitals have been put on alert about symptoms of swine flu and have been asked to take extra precautions while screening patients with similar symptoms.
