56 killed in Iraq blasts

In Iraq, at least 56 people were killed in a wave of bombings in the capital, Baghdad. More than 100 were injured. The blasts mostly occurred near Shia mosques around the time of Friday prayers. No group has claimed the responsibility of the bombings.Voice of Iraq news agency reports that a car crammed with explosives went off in Sadr City, eastern Baghdad, near al-Sadr office while another bomb exploded near Shiite Muhsen al-Hakim mosque in al-Amin neighbourhood in southern Baghdad. The third explosion occurred by a car bomb near Shiite Abdulhadi mosque in al-Houriya neighbourhood in northern Baghdad.Earlier in a separate incident in eastern Ramadi of Anbar province today, at least nine people were killed and ten others were wounded in blasts near three houses. The bombs were placed near the houses of a judge and police officers.
