An estimated 55 per cent voters exercised their franchise in the 37 polling booths of the Kandy and Trincomalee districts in Sri Lanka for which re-polling was held today.The Election Commissioner had ordered the re-poll following complaints of irregularities at some of the polling booths and withheld results of parliamentary constituencies for both the districts.According to the PAFFREL Executive Director Rohana Hettiarachchi the turn out had been the same as the April 8 elections in both the electorates and was without any major incident.The results are expected to be known after mid-night.Meanwhile, the second Court Martial against the former Army Chief retired General Sarath Fonseka resumed its sittings today to hear charges of irregularities in purchase of military equipment by the Sri Lanka Army during his tenure.The Court Martial is to receive written submissions from both defence counsel and prosecution by 30th April before its next sitting on 4th May 2010 at 2.30 p.m.
