India has made a winning start at the Asian Boxing Championships in Bangkok. Manish Kaushik on Wednesday thrashed Bangladesh's M Hossen 3-0 in the first round in a one-sided fight to open the event on a winning note for India. He will take on China's Chin Long on Saturday.Among those who got first round byes were defending champion Shiva Thapa, Vikas Krishnan, L Devendro Singh, Madan Lal, Manoj Kumar and Kuldeep Singh. Asian Games bronze-medallist Vikas Krishnan has been seeded second in 75 kg category and he will be up against the winner of the bout between Japan's Ryota Hamazaki and Turkmenistan's Arslanbek Achilov in his prequarters on Sunday.Another silver-medallist from the last time, Mandeep Jangra will open his campaign tomorrow against Vietnam's Vien Ngoc Huynh. Manpreet Singh and Satish Kumar will start their campaign on Saturday.The tournament is a qualifying event for the World Championships scheduled in Doha in October.
