In reply to Australia's first innings score of 530, India were 108 for 1 at stumps on Day-2 of the Melbourne Cricket Test today.India now trail by 422 runs with 9 wickets remaining in the first innings.Murali Vijay with 55 and Cheteshwar Pujara on 25 are at the crease.Earlier, Shikhar Dhawan was out for 28.The hosts today finished their first innings in a commanding position, with Skipper Steve Smith falling just 8 runs shy of a double hundred.It was Smith's third century in as many matches.Earlier in the morning, Australia resumed their first innings at the overnight score of 259 for 5. Mohammed Shami and R. Ashwin bagged two wickets each on Saturday, while Umesh Yadav claimed the wicket of Smith.Shami finished with the maximum of 4 wickets. Yadav and Ashwin ended with 3 wickets apiece.Besides Smith, Ryan Harris, Brad Haddin, Shane Watson and Chris Rogers made valuable contributions for Australia.The hosts have already won the first two Tests of this 4-match series.
