54 percent turn out in 2nd phase of assembly polls in Jharkhand

54 percent voting was recorded in the second phase of polling for 14 seats in the 81-member Jharkhand assembly. The poll officials informed that barring a landmine blast by Maoists killing a CISF jawan in Giridih district, voting went off peacefully. The polling began at 7 am and ended at 3 pm. All the 14 seats have strong Maoist presence. The third phase will be held on 8th December, the fourth phase on 12th and the fifth and final phase on 18th of this month. Counting will take place on 23rd December. Joint Electoral Officer of Jharkhand Mr. A. K.Sinha told AIR that not a single voter turned up at 22 booths of Dumri and Tamar assembly constituencies.
